Well, after about 40 years I have decided to start building models again.
Back in my early youth, I almost exclusively built car and military models. I still remember, that when I was spending the summer holidays with my grandma, I „persuaded“ her to give me a fairly large model kit of a Formal 1 racing car. If I am right, it was a Brabham BT52 BMW Turbo F1 Parmalat. Even back then, the model had proper springs and hoses for the engine, which really impressed me.
But at around 50.00 D-Mark, which was a lot of money in the early 80s, it was anything but cheap. I was so grateful to my grandma and spent the entire vacation putting the car together and painting it. When I was finally finished, I was really proud of the model, even though I lacked a lot of knowledge about model making compared to today – thanks to the internet – and I would definitely do a lot of things differently today. Especially since I now have completely different tools, etc. at my disposal.
With positive memories of my grandma and this time, I’m excited to see how my „new“ hobby will develop.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to it. 🙂
